Working for a Sustainable Amazon
When you work for us, you’re working for a company that cares about the Earth
At Amazon, we combine data and science with passion and innovation to tackle some of the world’s most urgent environmental and societal challenges. We set bold, long-term aspirations, such as The Climate Pledge—our goal to reach net-zero carbon emissions across our global operations by 2040—and create strategic, actionable plans to achieve them.
Our timeline to a more sustainable future
100%
of electricity consumed by Amazon in 2023 was matched with renewable energy sources
100,000
electric delivery vehicles deployed by 2030
Net-zero
carbon emissions by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Paris Climate Agreement
A commitment to sustainability starts at the workplace
We have already made significant headway in creating a net-zero carbon future. This is only possible when we ensure our associates have a safe and healthy environment to work.

Energy-Efficient Facilities
In addition to reducing water and fuel usage, we are minimizing energy use across all operations. Our facilities feature state-of-the-art technology and efficient building practices, with many of our warehouses powered by on-site solar.

Amazon Sustainability Ambassadors
We value the input of our associates. That’s why we have Sustainability Ambassadors, where more than 8,400 Amazonians have joined together to expand the efforts to reduce our environmental impacts. One example of this initiative comes from an ambassador team in Poland, where members redesigned the waste segregation process in their fulfillment center, improving waste recycling rates by more than 90%.
Deploying lower-carbon alternatives
As an associate, you would experience our ecological transformation in real-time. With electric delivery vehicles and improved packaging, our services are becoming more sustainable to improve the future of our communities.
Transportation
We deliver packages to our customers every day, making vehicle electrification within our network a decarbonization priority for Amazon. We have set a goal to have at least 100,000 electric delivery vans on the road globally by 2030. Our Delivery Stations will be working with these vehicles and ensuring our packages make it to our customers safely and quickly.

Improving Packaging
Amazon is working to transform our delivery packaging by reducing our use of single-use plastic packaging in favor of household-recyclable alternatives. We implement a variety of waste prevention efforts across Amazon—from our retail sites and grocery stores to our fulfillment centers.
